Goalfer Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Goalfer mobile application ("App"), you ("User" or "you") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Goalfer ("we," "us," or "our").

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Goalfer is a mobile application designed to help users build and maintain positive habits through:

Core Features

  • Personal Habit Tracking: Create, track, and manage daily, weekly, and monthly habits
  • Streak Counting: Monitor consecutive days of habit completion
  • Progress Analytics: View detailed charts, statistics, and insights about your progress
  • Social Accountability: Connect with friends for mutual motivation and support
  • Notifications: Receive reminders and motivational messages
  • Offline Functionality: Track habits even without internet connection

Social Features

  • Friend Connections: Add friends via email invitation
  • Activity Sharing: Share habit completions and progress with friends (optional)
  • Social Feed: View friends' habit activities and achievements
  • Reactions and Encouragement: Support friends with emoji reactions and messages
  • Privacy Controls: Choose what to share and with whom

Subscriptions and In-App Purchases (Goalfer Pro)

Goalfer offers an optional paid subscription, Goalfer Pro, as an auto-renewable in-app purchase. The core app is free to use; Goalfer Pro unlocks additional capabilities.

  • What Pro includes today: The confirmed benefit is a higher habit limit — free accounts can create up to 6 habits, while Goalfer Pro raises this to 15. Any additional Pro features are described in the app as "coming soon" and are not guaranteed until released.
  • Plans and pricing: Goalfer Pro is offered as a Monthly plan ($3.99 USD) or an Annual plan ($23.99 USD). Prices may vary by region and are displayed in the App Store and in the app's paywall at the time of purchase.
  • Auto-renewal: Goalfer Pro is an auto-renewable subscription. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. The subscription automatically renews for the same period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • Managing and cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; the current period is not refundable except as required by law or Apple's policies.
  • Payments and refunds: All payments and billing are processed by Apple through the App Store. Goalfer does not receive or store your payment card details. Refund requests are handled by Apple in accordance with Apple's Media Services Terms and applicable law.
  • Restoring purchases: If you reinstall the app or use a new device, you can restore an active Goalfer Pro entitlement using the "Restore Purchases" option in the paywall.
  • Founding member promotion: As a launch offer, a limited number of early users may receive Goalfer Pro at no charge via a promotional entitlement. This promotional access is a goodwill offer, is not an auto-renewable purchase, does not require payment, and may be modified or discontinued for future users at our discretion. It does not change the terms of the standard paid plans above.
  • Availability: Goalfer Pro is currently available on iOS only.

3. Eligibility and Account Requirements

Age Requirements

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Goalfer
  • Users under 18 must have parental consent
  • We comply with COPPA and other child privacy regulations

Account Creation

  • You must provide accurate and complete information when creating an account
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
  • One account per person; multiple accounts are not permitted
  • You may not share your account with others

Account Security

  • Choose a strong, unique password for your account
  • Enable two-factor authentication when available
  • Do not share your login credentials with anyone
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account

4. Acceptable Use Policy

Permitted Uses

You may use Goalfer to:

  • Track your personal habits and goals
  • Connect with friends and family for accountability
  • Share your progress and achievements
  • Use all features for personal development and wellness
  • Export your personal data

Prohibited Uses

You may NOT:

  • Harassment or Abuse: Harass, bully, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Inappropriate Content: Share content that is offensive, harmful, illegal, or inappropriate
  • Impersonation: Create fake accounts or impersonate others
  • System Interference: Attempt to hack, disrupt, or compromise the app's security
  • Spam: Send unsolicited messages or friend requests
  • Commercial Use: Use the app for unauthorized commercial purposes
  • Data Mining: Attempt to extract or harvest user data
  • Reverse Engineering: Decompile, reverse engineer, or attempt to extract source code
  • Illegal Activities: Use the app for any illegal purposes or activities

Content Guidelines

  • Keep habit names and descriptions appropriate and family-friendly
  • Respect others' privacy and personal information
  • Do not share content that promotes harmful behaviors
  • Report inappropriate content or behavior to our support team

5. Social Features and Community Guidelines

Friend Connections

  • Friend requests require mutual consent from both parties
  • You can remove friends or block users at any time
  • Respect others' privacy settings and sharing preferences

Shared Content

  • You control what habit data you share with friends
  • Shared content should be encouraging and supportive
  • We reserve the right to moderate reported content
  • Respect intellectual property rights in any shared content

Community Standards

  • Be respectful, supportive, and encouraging to other users
  • Celebrate others' achievements and progress
  • Provide constructive support during challenges
  • Report any violations of these community guidelines

Zero Tolerance for Objectionable Content and Abusive Behavior

Goalfer has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Objectionable content includes, but is not limited to, content that is harassing, threatening, hateful, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, or otherwise offensive, as well as any abusive behavior directed at other users. By using Goalfer, you agree not to create, post, share, or transmit any such content or engage in any such behavior.

To keep the community safe, Goalfer provides moderation tools that let you take action when you encounter objectionable content or abusive behavior:

  • Report content or users: You can report any user, activity, group activity, or group message that you believe is objectionable or abusive. Reporting is available directly from the relevant profile, feed item, or message within the app.
  • Block abusive users: You can block any user at any time. Once blocked, you and the blocked user will no longer see each other's content, interactions, or presence anywhere in the app, and any existing connection between you is removed. You can view and manage your blocked users, including unblocking them, from your account settings.

Reported content and users will be reviewed and acted upon. When content or a user is reported, we review the report and act on it as appropriate. Action may include removing the offending content, and warning, suspending, or permanently terminating the accounts of users who violate this policy. We reserve the right to remove any objectionable content and to restrict or terminate access for any user who engages in abusive behavior, with or without notice.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

Our Rights

  • Goalfer owns all rights to the app, including design, code, trademarks, and logos
  • Our content, features, and functionality are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws
  • You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our app

Your Rights

  • You retain ownership of your personal habit data and content
  • You grant us a limited license to use your data to provide app services
  • You can export or delete your data at any time
  • Your personal achievements and progress belong to you

Third-Party Content

  • The app may include third-party content or links to external websites
  • We do not endorse or take responsibility for third-party content
  • Third-party content is subject to their respective terms and conditions

7. Privacy and Data Protection

Data Collection and Use

  • We collect and use your information as described in our Privacy Policy
  • Your habit data is private by default and only shared with your explicit consent
  • We use aggregated, anonymous data to improve the app experience
  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties

Data Security

  • We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data
  • All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • We regularly monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities
  • You should also take steps to protect your account security

Your Data Rights

  • Access, update, or delete your personal information at any time
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Control privacy settings and sharing preferences
  • Request information about how your data is used

8. Service Availability and Modifications

Service Availability

  • We strive to maintain 99.9% uptime but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service
  • Scheduled maintenance may temporarily interrupt service
  • We will provide notice of planned maintenance when possible
  • Core features work offline and sync when connectivity is restored

App Updates and Modifications

  • We may update the app to add features, fix bugs, or improve performance
  • Updates may be required for continued use of the service
  • We may modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice
  • Significant changes will be communicated through the app or email

System Requirements

  • The app requires compatible iOS or Android devices
  • Minimum system requirements may change with updates
  • We support recent versions of mobile operating systems
  • Older devices may have limited functionality

9. Account Termination

Voluntary Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time through the app settings
  • Account deletion permanently removes all your data from our servers
  • Some data may be retained for legal compliance or security purposes
  • Deleted accounts cannot be recovered

Involuntary Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account for:

  • Violation of these Terms of Service
  • Abusive or harmful behavior toward other users
  • Illegal use of the service
  • Security threats or fraudulent activity
  • Extended periods of inactivity (with notice)

Effects of Termination

  • You lose access to all app features and services
  • Your data will be deleted according to our data retention policy
  • Outstanding obligations under these Terms survive termination
  • You may create a new account if termination was not for cause

10. Disclaimers and Limitations

Service Disclaimers

  • Goalfer is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind
  • We do not guarantee specific results from using the app
  • The app is for informational and motivational purposes only
  • We are not responsible for the accuracy of user-generated content

Health and Wellness Disclaimer

  • Goalfer is not a medical device or health treatment
  • Consult healthcare professionals for medical advice
  • We are not responsible for health outcomes related to app use
  • Use the app as a supplement to, not replacement for, professional guidance

Technical Limitations

  • App performance may vary based on device and network conditions
  • We cannot guarantee compatibility with all devices or operating systems
  • Third-party service interruptions may affect app functionality
  • Data loss may occur due to technical issues (though we take precautions to prevent this)

11. Limitation of Liability

Liability Limits

  • Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app (if any)
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
  • This includes lost profits, data loss, or business interruption
  • Some jurisdictions may not allow these limitations

Indemnification

  • You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the app
  • This includes violations of these Terms or infringement of others' rights
  • You are responsible for your own actions and content within the app
  • We will provide notice of any claims and cooperate in defense

12. Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

  • Some jurisdictions may not allow class action waivers

13. Changes to Terms

Modification Process

  • We may update these Terms periodically to reflect changes in our practices or applicable laws
  • Significant changes will be communicated through in-app notifications or email
  • We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of these Terms
  • Material changes will include a 30-day notice period before taking effect

Acceptance of Changes

  • Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of new Terms
  • If you do not agree to changes, you should stop using the app
  • You can delete your account if you disagree with updated Terms
  • We will provide clear notice of what has changed

14. Miscellaneous Provisions

Entire Agreement

  • These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Goalfer
  • They supersede any prior agreements or understandings
  • Any modifications must be in writing and agreed to by both parties

Severability

  • If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect
  • Unenforceable provisions will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make them enforceable
  • The overall intent and purpose of these Terms will be preserved

Assignment

  • You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms
  • We may assign our rights and obligations to affiliates or in connection with a business transfer
  • Any attempted assignment in violation of this section is void

Waiver

  • Our failure to enforce any provision does not constitute a waiver of that provision
  • Waivers must be in writing to be effective
  • No waiver of any provision will be deemed a waiver of any other provision
